 About Thoroughbred Park:

Thoroughbred Park, home of the Canberra Racing Club and Thoroughbred horse racing in the Capital conducts 25 meetings a year, including the TAB Melbourne Cup Day in November and the Canberra Carnival (John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes Day & TAB Canberra Cup Day) in March.

Located just 15 minutes from the heart of the City and along the new Light Rail, Thoroughbred Park races on the Course Proper in the warmer months and the Acton synthetic track throughout Winter.

There's plenty of excitement on and off the track on race day. Enjoy the famous carvery luncheon in the Black Opal Room, relax in the comfort of the Winning Post Bar, or take your position at one of the many picnic tables located trackside. Fashions on the field competitions are held on 2 major race days and is one of the best competitions in the region.

Our Functions Department are more than happy to help with providing you an ultimate experience on race day, a conference package for your special event or a wedding reception in one of our flexible and versatile function spaces. Our Christmas party race days are ideal for small to large groups and our outdoor spaces can cater for groups up to 1000.
